Dr. Lu got his PhD in Hong Kong Baptist University. He spent 3 years in Icahn organization of medicine at Mount Sinai for postdoctoral training before joining University of Macau as an assistant professor. Dr. Lu is an expert in neurobiology, cell biology and pharmacology. His major research interests are autophagy in human diseases and pharmacological study on traditional Chinese medicine. Dr. Lu tries to combine biochemistry, cell biology and neurobiology approaches, and apply cell, fruit fly and transgenic mouse models to identify small molecular autophagy modulators with therapeutic potential for human diseases including neurodegenerative diseases, cancer and inflammatory diseases. Dr. Lu has published a series of papers as first author or corresponding author in high profile journal including: Nature Communications, Autophagy (5), Molecular neurodegeneration, Cell death and disease (2), Pharmacological research…, with a total citation of over 3,600 times (WoS).
